Watchs purpose is to protect and assure the future of our
established residential neighborhoods and quality of life in the
area affected by PDK Airport.

Task List Adopted
The following task
list was approved at PDK Watchs June 5 meeting.
1) Hold the line
on airport expansion.
2) Keep the
airport noncommercial.
3) Institute and
implement an effective noise abatement policy.
4) Institute and
implement effective neighborhood participation in airport
activities.
5) Insure that PDK
Airport honors its mission statement.
6) Encourage
efforts to improve the appearance and landscaping of airport
property.
New Airport Director
Carl Remmel has
been named as the new airport director at PDK Airport and will
begin August 4.
Airport Advisory Board Changes Date of
Meeting
In order to include
the new airport director, the July meeting of the Airport
Advisory Board in the Airport Administration Building has been
postponed until August 6 at 6:30 P.M.
Good Neighbor Policy in Place
The PDK Airport
Advisory Board approved the following policy on May 28, 1997.
1. The Airport Director shall propose the
Agenda, with the approval of the Chairperson, for the PDK
Advisory Board meeting.
2. The Agenda shall include, but not be
limited to, any proposed actions which might impact the safe and
efficient operation of the Airport and/or the quality of life of
the residents in DeKalb County of which the Airport Director or
his designated agent has knowledge. These proposed actions
include, but are not limited to, any proposed safety operations
or changes in safety operations, actions on noise abatement,
Airport policy on handling noise complaints, proposals to utilize
real estate on the following properties: property over which the
Airport Director holds jurisdiction, property which the Airport
has designated or
has proposed to designate as green space,
property within the Runway Protection Zone, and property acquired
for noise abatement purposes.
3. Public participation shall be encouraged.
Any person wishing to propose an Agenda item shall submit such
Item to any Advisory Board member or the Airport Director who
will then submit the Agenda Item as new business during the
meeting. Any person proposing an Agenda Item, which would
require a vote from the Advisory Board, shall submit such a
request using the Business Agenda format.
4. Public outreach shall be encouraged.
The Airport shall mail the Agenda, accompanied by the meeting
time and place, two weeks prior to the PDK Advisory Board meeting
to each member of the Board. In addition PDK shall forward
notification of the meeting and the Agenda to each public library
with the request the meeting information be posted on the
community bulletin board of each library. PDK will also
post the announcement of the meeting and the Agenda on the DeKalb
County television community bulletin board.
