Senator Max Cleland involved in PDK Dispute

According to Mike Principino, in the summer of 2000 Airport Director Lee Remmel told him about the availability of maps for the Sound Insulation Program (SIP) and that effected neighborhoods had been identified. He also invited Mr. Principino to look at the Noise Contour Map for 2001. Read an exchange of correspondence as Mr. Principino tries to get information on this program from the airport director.

January 26, 2001, PDK Watch Coordinator David Green wrote a letter to Airport Director Lee Remmel requesting Mr. Remmel's cooperation and commitment in working with the community to address concerns that affect quality of life. Mr. Remmel responded with a letter of February 7, 2001.

In August 2000 Charles Feltus wrote a letter to Senator Max Cleland questioning the decision to raise the weight limit on aircraft using PDK Airport given the11th Circuit Court's ruling in 1988 which was based on the FAA's assurance of a 66,000-pound weight limit. Senator Cleland forwarded the FAA's response in which the FAA completely ignored the fact that the court's ruling was predicated on the 66,000-pound weight limit.
